To get a taste of some of these methods, here are some interesting YouTube links:

Five days of urban gardening in Munich

After a successful week the participants were proud to present their work to the public:

The created showgarden can be visited at the Berufsschule für Gartenbau, Floristik und Vermessungstechnik, Standort Sadelerstraße (Schulgärtnerei).

Last day

On the last day, the participants created a small "urban gardening showroom", where all the projects created during the seminar are presented.

This included the preparation of the raised vegetable beds with the right filling (branches, green waste, raw compost an a compost substratum mix)...

...and arranging additional vegetable beds, based on plastic boxes as well as adding vegetable to the builded vegetable beds:

Old vegetable varieties

After the practical part, the seminar continued with a presentation about the advantages and the breeeding of old vegetable varieties based on an old radish, cultivated for years by Martin Döttling (vegetable specialist at the Berufschule für Gartenbau, Floristik und Vermessungstechnik).

The entertaining presentation included hints for an easy extraction of radish seeds...

...and ended with a training course about the right preparation of radish for consumption:

Construction time again

The second project was the building of some raised vegetable beds. Main focus were cheap materials and an easy assembling.
Therefore wooden composting systems were used in combination with pond foil:

The composting systems were reinforced by wooden batten on each corner:

For protection against rodents, such as root voles, a wire mesh is installed on the bottom of each raised vegetable bed:

After attaching the pond foil the system is ready to be filled up with soil:
